In this music video called, “Without Me”, by Eminem, the whole concept of this video is about censorship and how he should be allowed to speak his own views; what he perceives about the world he lives and works in. He raps about how people like his music and lyrics and that they shouldn’t try to ban his music. He compares himself to Elvis Presley by how both of them do black music and how Elvis was censored to how Eminem has. He feels that he and other musicians should have controversy about their music, as this will encourage listeners to ask questions and gain knowledge about living in poverty, for example. In other words, support his music, because the people of the FCC believe that his music is wrong and disturbing. Eminem can be disgusting but he raps about the world, and what is truth in news. His meaning of this video is to give him credit for rapping the song about things that are going on around him and how they are wrong or right. Have you ever heard of freedom of speech? He has the right to say, or rap, what he sees is his view of his situations. In his music video, Eminem dresses up as Robin from Batman, but instead of using “R” he used “E”, but the point is that he is trying to show that he’s defending his music and freedom of speech. He’s not going to give it up. Another part of the music video shows a young boy looking at Eminem’s c.d. and it has the censorship label on it, which is making him want to get it all the more; “Kids feelin rebellious”, as Eminem raps in the video. He’s trying to show that no one cares about that label; it’s not helping at all. It should be all up to the parents and their own decision. In this music video, one scene shows a mocked up talk show ( i.e “Jerry Springer” ), with Eminem as a son and a mother saying how her son is being a bad boy, but she doesn’t care what he is listening to. Also another meaning is that he believes that “reality” shows are ridiculous to watch. He made another mock up of a reality show called “The Real World”, showing how ridiculous these people are and they’re not really doing anything but being dumb. I don’t see what’s really wrong with his music, because I could understand what message he was trying to convey.
