I watched a very humorous commercial by staples. A dad is doing some back to school shopping at a staples with his kids, while he skips through the store for joy the song it’s the most wonderful time of the year plays in the back ground while his two kids trudge slowly and sadly behind him. The narrator tells you of there super low prices, and then the commercial ends with there catch fraise, “ staples that was easy.” Now obviously the commercial was geared towards parents and the relief of after a long summer sending there kids back to school. The dad in the commercial looked like an average American dad nothing super special just in a polo shirt and kaki’s and the two kids were in rather similar outfits just simple and casual. They are most likely taking this sort of approach to connect to the average American to make a secure sense of familiarity like anyone and everyone shops here. The music playing in the back ground was a big factor. It was happy and up beat, and again if you notice a very familiar song that most people would know. It was perfect for any joyful moments and the dad was dancing isle to isle grabbing pencils, index cards and other school supplies showing there selection of merchandise. The narrator speaks as excited as the actor looks and tells you that they have seven thousand products to choose from to inform you that you have a choice, because everyone loves to be able have a choice. Now I thought the last catch phrase was crucial, “staples that was easy” it is a well known matter that as a culture we like things to be easy. And that is exactly what they are selling you a happy familiar easy way of shopping.
