Analysis Writing on "Yes We Can"

The video clip I have chosen for the analysis assignment is on that was put together for Barack Obama's presidential campaign, it uses famous actors and musicians to help remind all of us of our nation's history of change and growth as its major points, i.e. ending slavery, women's right to vote, belief in opportunity and prosperity and many more. One of the very first parts I noticed about this commercial is all the famous people in it. The use of well known actors and musicians is for the voters who want to do things and be like the stars, these voters are more likely to pick up the latest edition of Starz Magazine then go to a voting booth. Another observation is how from start to ending the video is pointing out in a time line our nation's major history that effects the minorities in America that have had to fight for change and equality. Pointedly the freeing of slaves and women's rights is targeting the minority voting groups, which in now one of the biggest groups to get votes from. This is a point to try an get those voters who haven't been to the poles before, for whatever reason, to feel like there is a REAL reason they should want to register and vote. This video also makes a point to tell us how other political persons have tried to tell Obama to "pause for a reality check" and "not to offer the people of this nation false hope," this is showing how the other political faces are trying to hush or discourage Obama from spreading the hope for change which would bring people out to vote. This commercial does a great job of putting the thoughts and feelings of the need to pull together, so the nation can change, into all the recipients who watch it.
