According to Cynthia L. Selfe, the author of “Last We Think the Revolution is a Revolution”, describes that western society is becoming affected to the blinding affects by technology becoming available for teachers. Most teachers are all for the technological advances in education because it will make their jobs easier because the computers will help the students learn at a much faster rate than just verbal instruction. What do we see as technology is either good or bad? We see that back in 1994, Al Gore, our former Vice President during the Clinton administration, noted that the Global Information Infrastructure (GII) will help increase our intercultural communication with the world around us. (Selfe 293) Technology has shaped the world by accepting the technology brought to us and have it become a normal part of our everyday life.
“We are bound to find new hope and dignity.” (Selfe 294) When I see this, I look at the technological advances that have happened from the time I was born to today’s technology. I see that we have definitely moved on from bulky computer screens that weigh just as much as a bag of sand to a computer screen that weighs nearly 10% of the weight and delivers a picture that is truly crystal clear. That’s a huge transformation. Along with the speed of which we retrieve information, dial-up internet was considered the latest and greatest in technology. Now it is the High-speed Broadband technology that sends information at an instant.
