Toni's Intro

Hey Everyone! My name is Toni Stanley. I am taking English 100 with Mary Hammerbeck at WCC this semester. I’m a little nervous about what to write, but I love to blog so this should be a breeze right?! Well I’m just going to start by telling everyone that I moved to USA 3 years ago from England. Everyone asks me why America? Why did you pick Washington? Well.... my dad lives in California and has done for 20+ years now, so I have been coming over for vacations ever since I was a youngster. On one of my vacations 5 years ago I met the man that I am now married to :). He is the love of my life (just had to put that out there)! So we did the whole long distance thing for 2 years while deciding if he was going to move to England or I was going to move to the USA. Our phone bills were insane! We would text and email each other all the time. It was so hard to fit in phone calls because of the time difference and our work schedules. So, we would survive on emails and text messages. I would email him every night telling him about my day and how work was etc. For me it was so much easier to type how I felt rather than to say it on the phone. I forget what to say on calls whereas with emails I tend to take my time, and think about what I would like to say and reflect more on my day. I often lost track of how long I had been typing for, and would realize… maybe I should eat dinner tonight?! Anyway, I decided to move to USA and we got married shortly after that. We lived in California for 2 years and then moved to Washington about a year ago because my husband got offered a job here. We love it here (it actually reminds me a lot of England) I’m very excited to be back at school and to make new friends, and obviously do extremely well in English. :).
