Hello! My name is Todd Ehle. I have spent all 20 years of my life in Washington. I grew up in Renton, but went to Catholic school in Bellevue and on Mercer Island. This naturally made me non- catholic. I moved to Bellingham in September 2008 without much of a plan. I was really sick of living down south with the large populations and endless traffic and knew from a young age I had to get away. I didn’t really know anyone when I moved up here, but figured that would be part of the journey. I really like it here, but some days I find myself developing itchy feet and wanting to move away again. My job is probably what keeps me grounded. I run an after-school program at Sunnyland Elementary for the YMCA. I have been working in these programs for 3 years and really enjoy it. I have orchestrated this plan to become a middle school history teacher, but I’m always changing my mind. I really want to travel and see the world before I settle down and start teaching. My first stop would have to be Costa Rica, there’s a volcano (Mount Chirripo) that I want to climb that’s in the middle of the rain forest. I love meeting new people, but am a little shy at first, but once you get to know me I can be pretty outgoing. Feel free to say hello!
The majority of my writing has been in the form of songs and poems. As a singer/songwriter I usually write poems and then turn them into songs if it all works out. I like using dark metaphors and fun wordplay the way the greats (Conor Oberst, Bob Dylan and Elliot Smith ) do. I have written a good amount of research and term papers, but have never enjoyed doing so. I think it’s the rules that really stress me out.
