Introduce myself

Hi, my name is Risa Kato. I'm from Japan. I want to intoduce my American life in Bellingam.
I moved to the U.S.A. to study English two years ago, so I have been living here for a long time. I’m an international student at WCC. I always go to school when I study English hard with my friends and teachers. Fortunately, I really enjoy spending time with my host family which is very important for me because I like to live with in a group. Therefore, I have many good experiences when I came to the U.S.A., but I have some bad experiences here too. It seems that if people are interested in English, they go to other countries to study English like me. Then, they get new experiences there. When I first came to the U.S.A., I was so nervous and lonely because I could not speak English very well or understand someone speak English to me. I first went to WCC as I met Kelly who is my director, but also he my previous teacher’s friend. Actually, he was so kindly and friendly to everyone. Therefore, that time I was so happy and relaxed. I remember that when I first attended the class, I could not understand the teacher spoke English to us, so I was so confused and upset. However, my seatmate, a Korean’s girl said to me, “I also can’t understand when the teacher says something to us, but it is good. It is because today is first time we attend the class when we can learn English together step by step.” That time her words have encouraged me, and I will never forget it. Therefore, I realized that my best Korean friend and I could meet in the U.S.A. which is “destiny.”
On the other hand, if people go abroad to study in other countries or travel in other nations, they might get some bad experiences and culture shock there. In fact, in my father’s case, before he moved to China, he had lived in North Carolina for one year. Therefore, he had some bad experiences in the U.S.A. Actually; he said to me, “Risa, you must not drive a car in other countries.” Why did he say that to me? Because he had a big car accident by himself in the U.S.A, he was seriously hurt that time. He said to me, “Driving cars is very different between U.S. and Japan, so you must not drive a car. Actually, you can drive a car in Japan where insurance is cheaper than America. However, if you made a car accident by yourself in the U.S.A., you can’t go hospital easily because you have to pay high price insurance there.” Also, I think I have to care by myself if I get sick. Seriously, I got sick last year when I really wanted go hospital. However, I did not go to the hospital because insurance was so expensive for me like people came from other countries consulted a doctor. Sometimes, I think I want be able to go hospital more easily in the U.S.A. So that I can live more comfortably. In conclusion, it is difficult to live in other countries. However, nowadays, many people get some good and bad experiences in the U.S.A. like me. It seems logical that we should learn good and bad things around the world because we need a wide outlook. In fact, most people are looking for happiness more than sadness, but I’m glad to know that both good and bad things live in the U.S.A. Studying abroad broadened I outlook remarkably.
