Emily's Post

I have recently read the essay the owl has flown by Sven Birkerts's and in his essay, Birkerts suggests that because of the overwhelming amount of information we receive everyday we are loosing are sense of depth, and lacking the ability to thoroughly learn things. In one section of the essay he compares the difference of how people who grown up living in very rural to isolated areas learning very limited things compared to people who have grown up in our society. People who grew up learning just one thing were able to completely learn there topic in depth and have an appreciation for what they do learn. But on the other hand the lack of information also has some manger problems. The people who grew up in a more rural environment tend to be more superstitious and very undereducated. In his essay it seems Birkerts is trying to say there is a fine line between knowledge and just to much information.
