Hello. My name is Connor Williams and I am a senior at Mt. Baker high school. This is my second quarter of running start and I have questioned why anyone wouldn’t want to do this every day. I spend most of my life outdoors, whether it is skiing, riding motorcycles or running. It may seem crazy but I am an avid runner. I have missed so few days of running since September that I can count them with my fingers. I have been running cross-country for four years now, and am now going to run track this coming spring. Aside from running, motorcycles are really my life. I have been racing and riding since I was five years old. I currently work as a grounds keeper at Raspberry Ridge Golf course to try to pay for all of my hobbies. I hope to transfer to a four year school next year and run for them as well as working towards a business degree and eventually owning my own business.
- Texting, facebook, emailing coaches, friends and family, academic assignments.
I find that I use texting more than any other form of writing. It is more out of convenience then anything else. A message only takes a minute at most and I don’t have to stop what I am doing to send the message. This can both be a good thing and a bad thing. I think that this writing will affect my ability to be personable when I am speaking to someone in person. When some one spends so much time talking to some one, with out actually talking to them, I think it allows them to develop a kind of shield so they can talk and say anything over a text, but in person you are not as fluid and don’t know how to interact. I also think that texting can affect my writing in school because I abbreviate words and don’t worry about spelling. Lastly, there is nothing in depth about the writing, it is strictly small talk and gives very little to think about. This does nothing for me in the long run of becoming a better writer and in some ways hurts me as a writer.
