In the commercial advertisement involving the Coca-Cola Company, we see that the commercial is set in Antarctica during the holiday season. The commercial includes a polar bear family enjoying their evening together when out of the blue they hear a commotion going on just over the hill from where they were. As they reach the top of the hill, they notice a rather large group of peguins dancing and partying to very loud music. Being a little too curious causes the young polar bear to slide down the hill into the crowd of penguins, and not until a young penguin hands the bear a coke does the group accept the family of bears and the party continues. This commercial represents the cultural diversity in America and the world by using a holiday/Christmas setting to show how people put their differences aside and forget their prejudices during this worldly similarity. Christmas is so spread out across the globe that by using this idea in a commercial, they are emphasizing the cultural commonality that so many of us share and treasure. By doing so, they could be suggesting that Coca-Cola is a world-wide similarity that all of us share and that is meant to be treasured. They could also be saying, by using the polar bear and penguin that the youth are innocent and are in some cases wiser and more trusting than the rest of us. The youth such as that in this commercial aren't slowed by simple prejudices or feuds; they merely know and understand the concepts of caring unconditionally and of giving during the holiday season.
8. In this commercial we are shown a bunch of penguins and some polar bears frolicing around. The music is singing about the North Pole and Christmas so we automatically assume thats where this is taking place. The identifiable myth in this commercial is that the North Pole is a jolly place where animals roam and santa and his helpers live when really its just really cold and nothing is up there.
ReplyDelete9. The style of the presentation portrays the polar bears as "outsiders". They are watching from a hilltop as the penguins have the time of thier lives. The baby polar bear accidentally slides down the hill and all the penguins stop playing and the music also stops. The baby polar bear sits there and the crowd of penguins surround him. This builds a little tension between them but then a baby penguin squeezes through the crowd with a bottle of coke and hands it to the baby polar bear. This is a sign of acceptance and makes the viewer feel good. The affect of this action is that sharing is caring and thats what coke represents.
